The Spreadlog is free to read. We pay for our testing and writing with money from brokers. This page explains every way that happens and what it never changes.
How we make money
- Tracked links. When you open an account through some links on this site, the broker pays us a fee. This doesn’t change the price or the conditions you get.
- Sponsored reviews. A broker can pay for its review to be published faster. The review is labeled Sponsored above the headline.
- Featured slots. Brokers can pay for a featured position on list pages. These slots sit in a separate box labeled Sponsored, apart from our ranking.
- Banners. Some pages carry display advertising from brokers.
What payment never changes
- A broker’s score or any part of it
- The cons listed in a review
- The regulation section, including which entity serves your country and its license tier
- Red flags, rating caps and regulator warnings
- The order of our editorial rankings, which are sorted by score automatically
- How quickly we publish negative findings
A broker with a red flag loses its outbound links and drops out of our best-of lists until the issue is resolved, whether or not it pays us.
How to spot paid content
Paid reviews and featured slots carry a Sponsored label. Links that earn us money carry the rel=”sponsored” attribute and appear as “Visit” buttons next to a broker’s score. Everything else on the site is editorial.
