Is CMC Markets regulated?
Yes. CMC Markets has been trading since 1989, its parent is listed on the London Stock Exchange, and it holds licences in the UK, Australia, Singapore and other major centres. But since March 2025 its international website has been run by a different company: CMC Markets Bermuda Limited, licensed by the Bermuda Monetary Authority. The FCA-regulated UK company appears in that site’s footer only as a “paying agent”.
In Singapore you deal with CMC Markets Singapore Pte Ltd, which holds a MAS licence for OTC derivatives and leveraged forex. CMC also has a Dubai company, CMC Markets Middle East Limited, licensed by the DFSA since 2019. Its licence covers futures, options and shares on a matched-principal basis, not CFDs or forex, so it isn’t the company behind a UAE forex account.
CMC Markets in your country
- Singapore: CMC Markets Singapore Pte Ltd, MAS-licensed, with SGD as the default account currency. Forex leverage is capped at 20:1.
- UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Malaysia and India: CMC publishes no country list. Its Arabic and Hindi pages are both run by the Bermuda company, so expect to be signed up there.
- India: CMC is not on the RBI Alert List, but Indian rules still bar residents from trading leveraged forex with overseas platforms.
We score CMC Markets Bermuda, the company behind the site most of our readers will use.
Fees and account types
CMC’s FX Active account is one of the cheapest forex offers from a major broker: spreads from 0.0 pips on six major pairs including EUR/USD, plus a commission of USD 2.50 per USD 100,000 traded, and a 25% spread discount on other pairs. The standard Singapore account quotes EUR/USD at 0.5 points and gold at 0.2 points, but the page carrying those figures notes they date from 2015.
In Singapore, an inactivity fee of SGD or USD 15 a month applies after 12 months without trading. Overnight forex positions cost the tom-next rate plus 0.0014%.
Deposits and withdrawals
Singapore clients can fund by FAST, PayNow, card or telegraphic transfer, and CMC doesn’t accept third-party payments. FX Active deposits and withdrawals are stated as free. We couldn’t find published processing times or a minimum deposit.
Platforms
CMC’s own Next Generation platform is the main draw, with strong charting and pattern recognition. MT4, MT5 and TradingView are offered on the international site; Singapore pages mention Next Generation and MT4. CMC publishes MT4 execution data: a median execution time of 0.018 seconds and 99.29% of market orders filled at the quoted price between April 2024 and March 2025.
Is CMC Markets safe?
The group is solid: decades of history, audited accounts, and a profit before tax of GBP 101.3 million in its 2026 financial year. The weak points are about which company you get. In Singapore, CMC’s terms say losses can exceed your deposit, so there’s no negative balance protection. For the Bermuda company we found no published statement on negative balance protection or compensation.
On the regulatory record, ASIC named CMC among seven CFD issuers that breached the leverage caps Australia introduced in 2021; the brokers self-reported and paid compensation. We found no MAS or FCA fines.
Who CMC Markets suits
Active forex traders in Singapore who want very low FX Active costs from a MAS-licensed broker with a proper platform. Gulf and South Asian traders get the same platform on a Bermuda licence, without a published country list or a swap-free account.
